Michael Thomas Mitchell, Sr.

Michael Thomas “Tommy” Mitchell, Sr., 74 of Alliance passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Tommy retired from PCS Phosphate where he was an electrician for 40+ years. When his two children were growing up, along with his wife, Judy, they enjoyed times at the beach and camping. He also helped coach his children’s teams when they played baseball and basketball. Tommy enjoyed fishing and hunting and getting together with his friends. He loved time spent with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael R. Mitchell; mother, Mary Lou Mitchell; brother, Jerry Mitchell; and sister, Barbara Stancil.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy W. Mitchell; daughter, Erica M. Rice and significant other, John Hill; son, Michael Mitchell Jr. and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Clayton Rice (Stacey), Anna Rice, Jacob Rice, Ashleigh Deditch, Hannah Mitchell and Jeremiah Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Rice and Brinley Rice; step-mother, Alma Mitchell; brothers, Jimmy Mitchell (Carla), David Mitchell, and Chris Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Bob Stancil.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 13 ^th at Reelsboro Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Alan Woodard officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:30 p.m., at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico County Rescue, PO Box 302, Bayboro, NC 28515.
