Hope Minnette Nash Hughes, 91, of New Bern passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022.
She was born the daughter of Hope Barrington and Minnie Mae Potter Nash in the Great Smokey Mountains in north east Georgia on a Friday, the thirteenth of March, 1931. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Michael Thomas Hughes, her older brother, Thomas Alvin “Shorty” Hughes and her younger sister, Peggy Lynda Gower.
She is survived by sons, Paul Thomas Hughes, Eric Ryan Hughes and wife, Jill Hughes, and daughter, Pam Brown; seven grandchildren, Charles Hughes, Allison Waldrep, Amanda Brown, Christopher Hughes and wife, Jennifer Hughes, Chelsie Worley and husband, Cody Worley, Nicholas Hughes and Heather Hughes; seven great-grandchildren, Colton Hughes, Trig Worley, Avery Worley, Enzo Hughes, Hayden Hughes, Royce Hughes and James Doyle.
She lived in Georgia in her younger years, through high school, then moved to Tampa, Florida, where she met and married her husband of 52 years. She was a homemaker and an artist and was successful in selling her art for many years.
She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thonotosassa, Florida.
