Nita Zongker Peele

Nita Zongker Peele, 81, of Grantsboro passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

A woman of faith, she was a member of Word Fellowship Church. Nita worked as a hair stylist for many years at Nita’s Beauty Salon in Aurora and Nell’s Hairstyling in New Bern.

Nita will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 59 years, Jimmy Peele; daughter, Tina P. Porter (Bobby); son, Anthony Drew Peele; brother, David Zongker (Jaye); sister, Verna Smith; brother-in-law, Larry Whitman; and many nieces and nephews.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ruby Zongker; sisters, Elvena Whitchurch, Sandra Whitman, and Carol Brock; and brother, Duane Zongker.

A funeral service to honor Nita’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10th at Word Fellowship Church. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
