Patricia “Patsy” Bayliss Cross, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
Patsy and her husband, Ed, spent many cherished years in Vandemere before making their home in Minnesott Beach. She was a member of Vandemere United Methodist Church for many years. Patsy had a gift for making connections – she never met a stranger, and those she met quickly became lifelong friends.
Her greatest love was her family. Patsy’s life was filled with laughter, kindness, and a radiant smile that brought comfort and joy to everyone around her. She treasured time spent with those she loved and created a legacy of warmth and togetherness that will live on through them.
Patsy also had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Sassy, who brought her constant companionship and joy. She found simple happiness in feeding the birds and squirrels and caring for all of God’s creatures with a tender heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Andrews Bayliss, Jr.; her mother, Minnie Pearl French; and her brother, John Durante Bayliss.
Left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Ed Cross; stepsons, Doug Cross (Patricia) and Don Cross (Kay); brothers, Tom Bayliss, III (Patsy), Curt Bayliss (Susie), and Mike Bass; sister, Linda Boucher (Leo); grandchildren, Michael Cross (Macy), Magen Check (Alec), Tyler Cross (Melissa), Zachary Cross (Kathryn), and Jonathan Cross (Alison); great-grandchildren, Easton Edward Cross, Whitt Allen Cross, Lily Mae Check, Tucker Stephen Check, William Robert Cross, Lyla Jayne Cross, and William Calvin Cross; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or the North Carolina Fisheries Association, PO Box 86, Morehead City, NC 28557.
Patsy will be remembered for her loving heart, her joyful laughter, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
