Rachel Lewis Barnes

Rachel Lewis Barnes, 85, of Cash Corner, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at home.

She is a member of Mt. Zion OFWB Church. Rachel retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service. She loved her family and church deeply.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Barnes, Jr.; son, Francis Michael Barnes; grandson, Daniel Bryan Barnes; two brothers; and one sister.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are son, Hugh Barnes III (Judy); daughter, Terri B. Smith (David); daughter-in-law, Shirley Lemke (George); 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2021, at Mt. Zion OFWB Church with the Rev. Dale Belvin officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Celestial Memorial Gardens, Cash Corner.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Mt. Zion OFWB Church, PO Box 964, Bayboro, NC 28515.
