Rachel Brinson Vendrick

Rachel B. Vendrick, age 90, resident of Oriental died on August 5, 2021. Services will be held at Bethany Christian Church in Arapahoe, NC on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm.

Rachel was born in Reelsboro, NC on February 2, 1931, to George Brinson and Minnie (Ensley) Brinson. She married Elbert Vendrickon on July 23, 1947. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Charleston, SC. While living in Charleston, they were blessed with two children, Cynthia “Rosie” and George. Rachel and Elbert lived in Charleston until their retirement in 1970, when they relocated back to Pamlico County and built their house in Oriental.

Rachel was known for being a true homemaker, keeping her house clean and running the household. She was also known for the cakes she baked, especially her 15-layer chocolate cake. She was hired by many people in the area to supply cake and other goodies for family events.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents and her son, George.

Rachel is survived by her daughter Rosie (Johnny) Ward of Oriental, NC; three grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
