Racinda Mary Snyder Whitworth

August 20, 1963 — September 7, 2025

Arapahoe

Racinda Mary Snyder Whitworth was born August 20, 1963 in Akron, OH to the late Geneva Jarvis McKee of WV and late James Preston Snyder of OH. She was the youngest of four children to Geneva. Racinda was named by her beloved and late Aunt Evelyn, but grew up being called Cindy. Racinda has no rooted meaning as it is a newer name; therefore, as her daughter, I would like to deem the meaning of Racinda to mean testimony.

She wanted her life to be known as a testimony to Jesus. Having survived a horrific house fire at the age of 7, Racinda testified hearing the voice of a man leading her out of the flames. Later when awaking from a three day coma, she revealed she had been visited by Jesus and verified he was indeed the one that led her out of the fire. Later in life, she testified she received another miracle being healed of a brain tumor ending debilitating migraines.

She was a survivor from a young age, and she worked tirelessly to find her way on this earth. She encountered a great deal of pain and tragedy in her life, but she always praised God and Jesus while spreading her testimony and generosity. Moving from place to place, she was always searching for a place to call her home. Her home on earth was never a place, but it was her family.

Racinda loved her family deeply and without boundaries. Her immediate family includes daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Walker Bown and William Eugene Bown of Arapahoe, NC, son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Lee Walker and Reziela Walker of Mt. Carmel, IL., and four treasured grandsons. Racinda, lovingly known as Mima, to her grandboys literally spent every moment cherishing Brandon William Bown (21), Nathan James Bown (18), Bradley Lee Walker (11), and Noah Gabriel Magalong (12).

Her journey on this earth ended peacefully in the care of the loving nurses at CarolinaEast Medical Center (New Bern, NC) within the Palliative Care Unit where she was received into the loving arms of her Savior. After 62 years on Sunday September 7, 2025, Racinda finally found her home to be in heaven. May her testimony and love for Jesus and her family live on forever.
