Rev. John R. Carawan, Sr.

Rev. John R. Carawan, Sr., 71, of Aurora, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 2022, from Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehab Center.

Rev. John pastored Wardens Grove Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member, for many years. He was also the librarian at Beaufort-Hyde-Martin Library in Aurora and retired from TexasGulf after 29 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Mae Belle Carawan; brother, Dan Carawan; and stepson, Walter Allen Manning, Jr..

He is survived by his wife, Linda T. M. Carawan; son, John R. Carawan, Jr.; stepson, Richard Cale Manning (Rachel); brother, Paul Carawan (Loretta); several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

His graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15 ^th at Wardens Grove Cemetery, Lowland, with the Rev. Earl Sadler, Jr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Wardens Grove FWB Church, 4688 Lowland Rd., Lowland, NC 28552 or Dublin Grove FWB Church, c/o Fay Peele, 282 Peele Rd., Aurora, NC 27806.
