Richard Earl Burroughs,”Dickie”, 71 of Bayboro, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
Richard was born in New Bern, NC and graduated from New Bern High School in 1968. After graduating he hit the road to begin his musical career. Alabama became his home and lead/played in the house band at the Fuzzy Duck in Gadsen for 25 years. While he sang country music, his first love was gospel music. Once retiring from band life, he continued to play music and worked at a local golf course. He loved golf and was an avid golfer until being sidelined by health issues. He was a die hard Alabama fan and loved that Crimson Tide.
He was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. Dickie moved back to NC in 2018 to be closer to his family who he dearly loved. He will be greatly missed by friends in North Carolina and Alabama.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bobbie, sisters, Linda and Hazel, and his brother, Grady Burroughs, Sr.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Burroughs, Jr.; sister in laws, Mabel and Elke; brother in law, Joe Whitford; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Richard was also blessed with close friends near and far.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
