Richard Woodard Hudson, Jr.

October 6, 1959 — March 9, 2021

Richard W Hudson, Jr., 61, of Bayboro, NC, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Hudson Stanley; his grandmother, Lily Lee Banks; and his father-in-law, Grady Burroughs Sr.

Richard worked in sales the majority of his life. He excelled in small business and ran several companies. Richard then added real estate to his career and was involved in growing the communities of Taberna and River Dunes. He then started with Nutrien in 2014 and also managed Watson's Real Estate.

Richard was a founding board member of Pamlico Christian Academy and served as board president for several years. He did love the school, the teachers, and its mission. Richard also served as chairman of the local Ducks Unlimited Chapter for several years. He loved anything outdoors and enjoyed watching his sons and nephews carry on the Hudson love for all fishing and hunting.

He was a people person with a heart of gold, a smile that would light up a room, and hugs that could make everything better, and a love for Jesus that he wanted everyone to experience. Richard loved his family dearly and was a true example of a son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. His children were blessed to have a father who put Christ first, which in return led him to be a faithful and loving husband and father who gave of his time freely and without hesitation.

Richard had a couple of favorite sayings that he shared with us daily that could be encouragement for many. “To be a leader” and “I am great but getting better”. He is finally better and will be greatly missed.

He survived by his wife, Christie Burroughs Hudson; children, Richard W. Hudson, III “Trey”, Christian Hudson, and Lillie Grace Hudson; his father and mother, Richard "Papa Doc" and Jeanette B. Hudson; mother-in-law, Mabel Burroughs; sister, Terry Vaughn, brother-in-law, Grady Burroughs and wife Ashley, sister-in-law, Linda Arquitt and fiancé, Tom Mapp; nephews, Luke Vaughn, Hudson Vaughn and wife, Gracie, Ben Stanley, Lee Burroughs, and Logan Arquitt; nieces, Jordan Lupton, Morgan Arquitt, and Allie Burroughs.
