Richard Dale Lilley

Richard “Dick” Dale Lilley, formerly of Hartville and Randolph, Ohio, passed away at his home in Oriental, NC Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

Dick was the beloved husband of Beatrice Joan Vlasak Lilley and father of Thomas Eli Lilley and Andrea Jean Lilley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Ethel Meurman, Dale Eli Lilley, sister, Mary Jean Lilley Martin, and brother-in-law, Everet Wells Martin.

Sailing activities brought the Lilley’s to Oriental, NC where they joined the Oriental United Methodist Church and served on the Missions Committee, became active at the Pamlico County Fishes and Loaves Outreach and assisted with construction of the three Pamlico County Habitat for Humanity houses.

Previous to his retirement, Dick worked as a mechanical engineer for thirty years at Goodyear Aerospace in Akron, Ohio.  The Lilleys lived in Randolph and Hartiville, Ohio where they were members of the Randolph Christian Church for 25 years and St. Jacob’s Community Church in Cairo, Ohio for ten years.  Dick enjoyed being a member of the Randolph Lion’s Club, volunteering at the Randolph Township Food Pantry and Portage County Habitat for Humanity.  Sailing at Berlin Reservoir and being a member of the Berlin Yacht Club along with interests in raising Hereford beef cows, farming, woodworking, building blue bird houses, helping those in need, and most of all being a family man brought him much joy.

Donations may be made to Pamlico Habitat for Humanity, Pamlico Fishes and Loaves Outreach, or Pamlico County Hospice in lieu of flowers.

When the Covid-19 situation improves or the weather is such where we can gather safely outside to celebrate the life and legacy of Dick, the Lilley family will announce a memorial gathering later in the spring or summer but at this time there will be no gathering.
