Robert Earl Buck, 78, of Grantsboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehab Center.
A faithful member of Reelsboro Pentecostal Holiness Church. Robert was a man whose life was firmly rooted in his love for the Lord, his family, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard, serving his country with honor and dedication.
Robert spent his working years as a delivery truck driver and heavy truck mechanic, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and mechanical skills. His hands were rarely still – if he wasn’t working, he was likely tinkering under the hood of a car. He had a lifelong passion for racing of every kind, especially drag racing and round track racing. He found great joy in building race car engines and following the sport he loved so much.
Though he considered himself a simple man, Robert’s life was anything but small. He loved deeply and generously. His dogs held a special place in his heart, and his extended family was always embraced as if they were immediate family. Above all else, God and family were his everything. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Virginia Buck.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of nearly 54 years, Jean S. Buck; his son, Craig Stephen Buck and wife, Tiffany; his grandchildren, Meghan and Kody Buck and Hevin and Dusty Willis; and his great-grandchild, Jaiden Armstrong.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18th at Simpson Family Cemetery on S. Goose Creek Rd, with Rev. Alan Woodard officiating. Military honors will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
