Robert “Bob” Allen Mace, 85, of Aurora, formerly of Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
A U.S. Army veteran, he started his career during the Korean Conflict stationed in Hawaii working in logistics and then maintenance. After serving in the Army, he worked as a dairy truck driver then worked as a mechanic with Lomar. He started a long-term career as a truck driver with Teamsters. Additionally, he opened and operated his own body shop. Upon retirement he continued to work, operating his own handyman business.
His passion was trains. He would handmake wooden train replicas and put an extensive Lionel Train platform up at Christmas for all the children, big and small, to come see. He also loved to travel and visited every casino on the east coast he could find and then some. He enjoyed gambling to include Bingo. He was also passionate about gardening and birds but hated the squirrels that stole all the bird seed!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Mace; father and stepmother, Marlin and Stephanie Mace; his mother, Ester Dilletto; significant other, Marion Dempsey; two grandsons, Wayne Robert Foulke and James Allen Shafer; and granddaughter, Breezy Mace.
He is survived by children, Theresa Newton (Carl), Mary Anne McKeown (Edward), Dolores Shafer (Russell), Regina Weeks (Tim), and Robert Mace, Jr.; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.

What my children should remember about me. I have made mistakes that is true, and I am sorry about that, but I love you with all my heart. You have been number one to me. We will meet again.
