Robert “Rob” Daniel Dixon III, 55, of New Bern, passed away at his home on February 18, 2026.
Robert lived life with creativity, adventure, and deep devotion to his family. An accomplished chef, he refined his culinary talents while living in St. Thomas, where he mastered the art of preparing authentic German cuisine. His time on the islands was marked not only by his skills in the kitchen, but also by his love for the sea. He enjoyed deep sea and scuba diving and worked on the Atlantis Submarine, embracing the beauty and adventure of island life.
Above all his accomplishments, Robert was most proud of being a father. He was, by all accounts, the very best stay-at-home dad-present, engaged, and endlessly supportive. His children were his world, and he poured his heart into every school event, family outing, and quiet everyday moment. He treasured family time on the boat, loved being on the water, and created lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Robert also had a remarkable eye behind the camera. What began as a hobby grew into a true craft, and he captured countless beautiful photographs throughout the area. Through his lens, he preserved moments and landscapes that will continue to be cherished for years to come.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Melissa Dixon; children, Jordan Johnson (Chris), Morgan Melton (C.J.), Chelsea Zogopoulos (Neil), and Robert “Rob” Dixon IV; his father, Robert “Bobby” Dixon, Jr. and wife, Sylvia; his mother, Margaret Ferrebee and husband, Burt; brothers, Ed Dixon (Nicole) and Alan Ferrebee (Tammy); grandchildren, Cooper and Tucker Johnson, and Crew, Sloane, Nash, and Fort Melton; nephews, Matthew Sutton (Paylay), and Tyler Dixon; nieces, Mia Dixon, Sara Ferrebee and Whitley Ferrebee; great nieces, Naomi and Jean Sutton; and a host of extended family members of the Lynn family in South Dakota.
A celebration of Rob’s life will be announced at a later date.
