Robert Leon Tripp, 65, of Merritt passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, at home.

At the age of seventeen years old, Robert enlisted in the United States Army and was active from 1976-1983.  Robert had hoped to make the US Army his career but due to an injury was honorably discharged in 1983.

After the Army, Robert found his true calling in auto mechanics and became a jack of all trades. Over the years, Robert owned and operated four shops with his soulmate, Dianna.

In his spare time, Robert coached little league baseball, loved to fish, and work on cars with his beloved granddaughters.

Every year, it was important for Robert to plan a family fishing trip on his wife's birthday. Family meant everything to Robert. He never knew a stranger, and everyone knew him.

Robert was a proud member of The Moose fraternity and enjoyed traveling and most of all, what the Moose represented.

Robert will be greatly missed by his wife, Dianna and all who knew him !Ich Lieb Dich! Fly high my love, till we meet again.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jather & Tomi Tripp and brother, Curtis Tripp.

Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife and soulmate since 1997, Dianna Cook Tripp; son, James “Adam” Tripp (Jessie Griffin); stepchildren, Crystal Greene (Jacob) and George Tingen; brother, Jather “Buddy” Tripp, Jr.; sisters, Brenda Wilson, Blanche Fogle (Pauley), and Michelle Wynne; and four grandchildren, Brianna Hagmaier, Jasmine Greene, Autumn Tripp and Toph Tripp.

His funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 17th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Fitzgerald officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requested memorial contributions be made to Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home, PO Box 99, Alliance, NC 28509.
