Mayor Rodman L. Williams, 75 of Bridgeton, died unexpectedly May 25, 2022, at Carolina East Medical Center. He was born February 15 th , 1947, in Cove City the son of Henry Lee Williams and Rachel Heath Williams.
Rodman graduated from New Bern High School, class of 1965. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force where he acquired his pilot’s license and served for 4 years. The love for “his” little town started when he moved his family to Bridgeton in the late 70’s. Through the years he was a volunteer firefighter and later became fire chief for a little while. Before becoming Mayor, he also served on several boards for the town. In 2001 Rodman was elected Mayor to the town of Bridgeton where he served proudly and loyally until his passing. He loved the town and he loved being the mayor, he served with great passion for his community. He was also a skilled carpenter by trade and worked most of his career downtown in the historic district of New Bern.
Rodman is preceded in death by his father.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Cindy of 23 years, are his son, Daniel and his wife, Jane, of New Bern, stepson, Mike Canas and his wife Stephanie, of New Mexico, his stepdaughter, Cindy “Sis” Becky and her husband, Todd, of Pennsylvania; his mother, Rachel Heath Williams; one sister Ann Hacker (Lash); two special sisters in law, Sarah and Charmie; three grandchildren; Nick Garman (Kelsie), Dalton Canas (Felicia), Christopher Canas of the home; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind too many close friends and co-workers to name and his precious four legged “kids”.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2 nd at Bridgeton Christian Church, 306 New St., Bridgeton, NC.
