Ronnie Eugene Avery

Ronnie Eugene Avery, 82, of Olympia passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at home.

He was a patrolman with the New Bern Police Department in the 1960’s; the Winter Park Police Department in Florida from 1965 to 1989 where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant; Chief of Police in Williamston, NC and in the early 90’s worked with the East Carolina University Public Safety; and was a graduate of the Class of 1999 FBI National Academy. He retired from Budd Services, Regional Security Services in the early 2000’s.

He is survived by sons, Ronnie “Michael” Avery and wife, Rebecca, and Steven Keith Avery; daughter, Dawn Marie Avery Bates; brothers, Wesley Avery and wife, Debbie, and Ernest Avery and wife, Betty; five grandchildren, Justin Avery, Chris Avery, Sean Avery, Tori Bates and Lucas Bates; and five great-grandchildren, Julia Avery, Nick Avery, Luke Avery, Hannah Avery, and Ana Roman-Avery.

His memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 23 ^rd at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Relay for Life Pamlico County Chapter c/o American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
