Roy Lawrence Brinson, Sr.

Roy Lawrence Brinson, Sr., 96, of Reelsboro passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

He is a U.S. Navy veteran and faithful member of Reelsboro Methodist Church. He was also a member of Rainbow Masonic Lodge #479. Known as the watermelon man, he diligently grew and sold watermelons to many throughout the years. Mr. Roy was also known for his tireless work on heating and air conditioning units. He served as a County Commissioner for multiple terms, serving on many different county committees. His kindness and generosity will be remembered and missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis and Bessie Brinson; grandson, Michael Wayne Brinson; three brothers; and four sisters.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 73 years, Shirley Brinson; three sons, Graham Brinson (Betty), Dennis Brinson (Cindy), and Roy Brinson, Jr. (Kari). He was especially devoted to his 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28 ^th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Roach, and Rev. Josh Nichols officiating. A private interment will be held in Hollywood Cemetery.

His visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27 ^th at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Reelsboro Methodist Church, 51 Holland Dr., New Bern, NC 28560.
