Roy Thomas Gritz

Roy Thomas Gritz, 78, of Minnesott Beach passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

Roy was born in Lowland, NC to the late George Leonard & Katie Ireland Gritz.

A retired veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps he served 22 years. Prior to becoming a Marine, he served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years. After retirement he became a Merchant Seaman and retired again after 22 years.

Roy was a proud member of the Rainbow Masonic Lodge #479.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Sue Ann Gritz.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Bryan T. Gritz and Christopher E. Gritz and wife, Michelle; sister, Amanda G. Carey; sister-in-law, Sally J. Rauch; grandchildren, Savannah, Thomas, Braden, Nicholas, and Gabriel; and great-grandson, Douglas Jeremiah “D.J.”.

In an effort to honor Roy’s wishes, no services will be held.
