Samuel “Sam” Kenton Haddock, Sr., 59, of the James City area, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He was born to Richard and Lillian Bennett Haddock on February 26, 1962, in New Bern, NC.
Sam attended Durham High. He worked as an electrician for over 20 years. He loved helping others, working in his yard with his many plants. Sam attended Crossroads Baptist Church in James City. He was a craftsman at heart. He did beautiful woodwork in his home and made Feng Shui copper trees as a hobby.
Sam married the love of his life, Wendy lee Rutt on July 12 th , 2002. They had an ol’ school love no one could break apart. They were married 19 years but together 26.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Lillian Haddock.
Sam is survived by his wife, Wendy Lee Rutt; daughter, Samantha Franklin of South Carolina; four sons, Samuel Haddock, Jr. of Trella, California, T. J. Barnes of Ohio, Author Lewis and Drew Rutt of New Bern; four sisters, Arlene Willis and Angela Gaskins (Jimmy) of New Bern, Princess Lipscomb (Doug) of Spartanburg, SC, and Victoria Andrews (Rodney) of Durham NC; one brother, Richard Haddock (Maryanne) of Blueridge GA; seven grandchildren, Dakoda Barnes, Shyanne & Kaydon Lewis, Eli & Noah Franklin, Lexi Rutt and Karli Haddock; and his nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 9 th at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church.
