Sandi Jones 1945-2018
Sandra “Sandi” Ann Arledge Small Jones, 72, returned to her heavenly home on July 10, 2018, after a long illness. Her devotion to her family, friends, and her belief in God gave her a peaceful passing.
Sandi was born on December 15, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the loving mother of three daughters. Returning to cosmetology school in the early 1970’s, she became a gifted hairdresser and maintained a successful business for more than 40 years. It has been said by many of her former clients that no one could cut hair the way that she did. She enjoyed her job and the relationships that were built with her clientele, but her job as Nannie was the job that she loved the most. She was an amazing Nannie to all of her grandkids and she loved them wholeheartedly. Anyone who sat in her chair enjoyed hearing stories of her daughters and grandkids. She was extremely proud of them all.
Sandi enjoyed many hobbies especially gardening, genealogy, and crocheting. She loved trying new things and taking her grandkids on adventures. She was a hard-working, beautiful, sweet soul.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Brite, brother, Billy Arledge, grandson, Corey Day and son-in-law, Lynwood Goff. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Wendy Williams (Jack), Pam Madsen (Mike), and Nicki Goff. Her dear grandchildren, Jennifer Madsen, Jordan Sutton, Dion Moore, Taylor Madsen, Hunter Day, Gracie Goff and Harper Goff. Other survivors include sister, Annette Wilkinson, brother, Willie Brite (Diane), nephews, Bruce Wilkinson, Jr., Keenan Wilkinson, Shawn Brite and their families.
Sandi’s memorial service will be held at Rock of Zion Free Will Baptist Church in Grantsboro, where she was a member, on July 14th at 3:00 pm. The family will receive visitors in the fellowship hall prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:45 and other times at her sister, Annette Wilkinson’s home at 300 Hale Rd., New Bern (Pinedale).
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you send a donation to Rock of Zion Free Will Baptist Church in her memory. The address: P.O. Box 381, Grantsboro, NC 28529.
