Sarah Jane Brinson, 37, of Grantsboro, NC, passed away on Friday, March 12, at Vidant Medical Center after a month-long fight against COVID-19 double pneumonia.
Sarah is survived by her parents, Doug and Annette Brinson of Arapahoe, NC; her brother, Jack Brinson of Columbia, MD; her sister, Mary Kate Brinson Parrish (Jacob) of Greenville, NC; her nephew, Jackson Parrish; her niece, Emma Kate Parrish; and her dog Sadie.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jack and Elizabeth Brinson; and her maternal grandparents, David and Lena Bell.
Sarah graduated from Pamlico County High School in 2002. She then earned in 2006 a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies. In 2009 Sarah graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Juris Doctor degree.
She owned and operated Brinson Law in Clinton, NC, until she returned home in 2020 to be closer to her family. She then taught American Government at Pamlico Community College.
Sarah’s love of her family, many friends, her ECU girls, and of Bethany Christian Church was boundless. Sarah was always positive in her attitudes toward people and life. She could always find the good in life’s situations, and she was always ready to help others, always loyal to her friends. She loved to travel to different countries and share in their cultures. She was known as “the documenter” among her family and friends as she captured in photos life’s important events, both big and small. Decorating for holidays and planning events were among her greatest pleasures.
Sarah loved music from which she found many truths about life. She was passionate in her following of the Avett Brothers. Throughout her home are found quotes from many of their songs. “Always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name.”
There will be a graveside service for Sarah at Amity Christian Church on Monday, March 15, at 2:00 PM that will be officiated by Reverend Torrie Osgood and Reverend Roger Bennett. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethany Christian Church for funding of the musical service she so enjoyed, PO Box 156, Arapahoe, NC 28510.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Vidant Medical Center, Dr. Darla Liles, and the ECU Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine team, especially Dr. Doug Schiller and Dr. Jennifer Stahl for the exceptional care she received.
