Shirley Estelle Stevenson Brinson, 94, of Reelsboro passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehab Center.

Mrs. Shirley, or “Mossie” as known to many, was a woman of faith who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a faithful member of Reelsboro Methodist Church where she devoted much time and effort into “chicken fry’s” to raise money for the church building. She will be remembered for many things including her delicious sugar cookies, her beautiful wedding cakes, her “green thumb” and love of flowers and plants, as well as her paintings. Mossie was often seen and heard singing hymns from her beloved front porch swing. Mossie always knew what was important and lasting.  She thrived on raising her children, grandchildren, and their many cousins with plenty of love, old-fashioned common sense, and good, homemade cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brinson, Sr.; parents, Joseph and Sina Stevenson; grandson, Michael Wayne Brinson; sisters and their husbands, Aileen Lee (Sam), Ruby Krechel (Oscar), and Nancy Norris (Sherwood); and brother and his wife, Joe Graham Stevenson (Ann).

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her beloved sons, Graham Brinson (Betty), Dennis Brinson (Cindy), and Roy Brinson, Jr. (Kari); 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor Mrs. Shirley’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 28th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Roach and the Rev. Josh Nichols officiating. Private interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
