Lowland

Steve Martin Ross, 79, of Lowland peacefully passed away on July 5, 2026, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Steve went on to dedicate 40+ years of faithful service to Civil Service at Cherry Point before retiring.

Steve enjoyed simple pleasures in life, such as old Western movies and classic car restoration programs. Countless hours were spent in his outdoor living space, where many cherished family memories were made. In his younger years, Steve loved boating, hunting, and fishing. He also had a special place in his heart for his feline companions, Charlie, Oreo, and many others throughout the years. Above all, Steve loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Stella Hopkins Ross, and by his parents, Carol and Beulah Ross.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Chad Ross (April) and Jeffrey Hopkins (Hope); his granddaughters, Charlee Ross and Meagan Hopkins; his sister, Pattie Leary (Steven); his nieces, Ashley Sawyer (Cliff) and Autumn Hardison (Travis); his great-nephew and great-niece, River and Banx Hardison; his special friends, Karen Ireland and Aimee Rowe; and his devoted caregivers, Sherry Sawyer and Lisa Santimaw.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Watson Cemetery in Lowland on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Blaney Rowe. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home.
