Tamara Alane Potter, 24, of Orange Park, Florida passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at home.
Tamara, also known as Tammy, was full of love, life and energy. Her sense of adventure was one of her closest friends. Either with or without others, Tamara would travel to amazing places enjoying the scenery, the people, not to mention the occasional shopping trips. While living with her mother and step-father, who served in U.S. Coast Guard, Tamara lived in Guam, Alaska, Mississippi and finally Tennessee, where she graduated from high school. Tamara was awarded a cheerleading scholarship and became a collegiate athlete at Memphis State.
Shortly after college, Tamara was blessed with a little boy named Dawson Blaize Potter on September 13, 2012. At first sight Dawson became the man of her dreams. She lived to cuddle, love and be the greatest mother to her handsome boy and they traveled many places making beautiful memories and capturing tons and tons of photographs. Tamara and Dawson spent vacations in Pamlico County enjoying quality time with her father and family, and family members. They even lived in France for a few months and enjoyed every second of God’s beauty, but they soon came back to Tennessee and Tamara studied to become a Surgical Technician.
Wanting to be closer to family, Tamara sold her home and moved to Orange Park, Florida and lived closely to her mother. Tamara spent most of her career in the emergency rooms, helping save the lives of others. Some of Tammy’s favorite past-times were spending time in a tree stand with her dad, riding four-wheelers, and literally flying off into the sunset on her jet ski always trying to see if she could create more speed. Watching her ride the Jet Ski, from the tiniest of age until this past summer, it was like watching a stunt woman, capturing the waves and side to sides in a racing movie. Though all who watched knew she would be safe, her Birdie, the forever lifeguard, was yelling, “Slow Down”! Tammy always smiled and would gracefully glide up the dock. And, history has it, Tammy was always ready to out-fish her Granddaddy Kenny.
She is survived by her father, Clyde Potter of Bayboro; mother and step-father, Wendy Harvey and Patrick of Orange Park, Florida; son, Dawson Blaize Potter of Orange Park, Florida; paternal grandparents, Carol & Birdie Potter of Bayboro; maternal grandparents, Kenneth & Linda Hill of Oriental; sister, Tara Hill Hunter and husband, Jake, of Memphis, TN; niece and nephew, Jackson and McKinley Hunter of Memphis, TN; aunt, Jane Whitley and husband, Stephen; uncles, Mike Potter and Ken Hill; and many beloved great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home.
