Velna Heuser Bennett

Velna Mae Heuser Bennett passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Gardens of Pamlico. She was 91 years old.

Velna lived most of her life in Pamlico County. She married Ellsworth Lincoln Bennett, Sr. and together they raised four children: Patsy, Buddy, Steve, and Libby. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Velna spent her last years at the Gardens of Pamlico where she loved crafting, crocheting and playing Bingo. She loved living there; the residents and staff were her extended family. The family cannot thank the Gardens enough for the loving kindness they showed to their mother.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Bennett Stultz, Ellsworth Lincoln Bennett, Jr. (Pennie), Leonard Steven Bennett, Sr. (Laurie), Elizabeth Bennett Letchworth; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sisters, Norma Kay Powell and Billie Pollock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Lena Heuser; husband, Ellsworth L. Bennett, Sr.; and sisters, Joan Grice and Marlyn Heuser.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 16 ^th at Banks-Willis Cemetery in Arapahoe.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested donations be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1423 S Glenburnie Rd, Suite A., New Bern, NC 28562.
