William Boyd Cayton ”Baloney”, 83, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Grantsbrook Nursing and Rehab Center.
Baloney was a commercial fisherman and then a truck driver for more than 25 years. He loved every minute of it with his Doberman Pinscher, “Roscoe”. They never met a stranger from the East Coast to the West Coast. After retiring from truck driving, he started mowing yards and he enjoyed that very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie & Myrtle Cayton; seven brothers, Bradley, James, Thelbert, Curtis, Alvin, Jerry, and Seth Cayton; sisters, Peggy Potter, Margaret Whaley, Emma Jean, Ann Smith, Darnell Cayton.
William is survived by his daughter, Penny Cayton Flowers; his only grandchild, Mark Kyle Wetherington (that he loved with all his heart); his only great grandchild, Colton Lee Wetherington (that he cherished dearly and enjoyed to pick on); sisters, Linda Kirkman (Jim), and Brenda Spear (Harold); brother, Jesse Cayton “Henry” (Linda); wife, Barbara Potter Cayton; two step daughters, Dawn Jones and Denise Woolard (JD); three step grandchildren,Skylar Jones, Athan Bell and Kody Bell .
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday August 20th, at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Sadler, Jr. officiating.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Cardinal Hospice Care, 2807 Neuse Blvd. Suite 13, New Bern, NC 28562.
